BET Cancels ‘The Rundown With Robin Thede’ After One Season

BET has decided that Robin Thede will no longer be saying her epic catchphrase, “no matter what color you are… stay black!” on the air.

The network has announced that her critically-acclaimed weekly late-night comedy series called The Rundown with Robin Thede has been canceled.

The Rundown survived only one season of 24 episodes that were focused on political news and hilarious skits mainly talking about black women being powerful and strong leaders in all sectors. She also did interviews and featured several live performances on the show. It was produced by stand-up comedy legend Chris Rock.

BET said in a brief statement after the cancellation news broke: “At this time BET Networks has decided not to renew ‘The Rundown with Robin Thede.’ We have so much love and respect for our Unicorn and look forward to finding ways to continue in partnership with Robin.”

Thede, who was part of Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, issued a statement of her own that read: “I’m thankful that BET took a chance on me and the show. I’m already in development on several other projects and I’m looking forward to hosting the TCA Awards on August 4.”

Thede is currently in Europe living her best life.
