Courtney Schaefer, A Georgia Southern University Student, Sent Her New Black Roommate Texts With N-Word

Blame it on her phone. Courtney Schaefer is the new face of racism in America for her critics after she sent her black roommate a text message with the word n*gger in it.

Miss Schaefer, who attends the Georgia Southern University, said she wrote a message to her new roommate, Nwamaka, and apparently, auto-correct took over and dropped the N-word accidentally.

The controversial message read, “her insta looks pretty normal not too n–gerish.”

Schaefer, who has since deleted all of her social media accounts, claimed she meant to say “triggerish” instead of a racial slur.

Schaefer did apologize to Nwamaka in another message that read: “OMG, I am so sorry! Holy crap. Damn spell check I did NOT mean to say that. I was texting Hannah, and I meant to say triggerish meaning like you seemed really cool nothing that triggered a red flag! I’m so embarrassed I apologize!”

University president Shelley C. Nickel rapidly responded to the controversy by saying:

Daijah Morrison, who is said to be a friend of Nwamaka’s, is not buying the explanation because of the obvious — “triggerish” makes no sense in the sentence. Additionally, it is not even a word.

Morrison told a local media outlet: “Triggerish is not a word at all. The closest word to that has to be triggerfish. So for her to cover those things up, it just does not add up. Georgia Southern should definitely—I’m not getting in their business. Hopefully, they’ll be professional and handle everything correctly, but I’m just hoping they shut that down and show other students we don’t play that. We’re here to learn.”
