The Lip Bar is a Black woman-owned beauty company founded by Melissa Butler. Butler began developing lipstick while working on Wall Street after becoming frustrated with limited representation and one-size-fits-most standards in the beauty industry.
The company has expanded beyond lipstick into a broader beauty line focused on inclusive shades, vegan and cruelty-free formulations and simplified routines. The Lip Bar operates a flagship store in downtown Detroit and is also distributed through major retailers across the United States.
